FINANCIAL LITERACY ROCKS !!

Meet Natalie Elona, a senior from Simon Sanchez High School. She is the first to complete the Everfi Financial Literacy certification on April 5, 2022. Elona is a hospitality student in the GCC Lodging Management Program. Recently, her instructor, Eric Chong, cited a newspaper article about Florida's Governor DeSantis who singed a bill to require Florida high school students to take a financial literacy class in order to graduate. Guam ACTE sponsored an Everfi workshop to its members on March 25, 2022 and one of Everfi's courses is on financial literacy. Subsequently, Chong signed up all of his students for this financial literacy course because of the tremendous value to students' lives.

Elona remarked, "This financial literacy course was more like a game than a lesson. It was fun and easy to complete. My takeaway from this course is how to handle my finance and to avoid financial pitfalls which will better prepare me for life after high school." She is proud to have covered all modules in the Everfi Financial Literacy course, including: Tax Simulations, Banking Basics, Employment and Taxes, Budgeting, Consumer Skills, Credit and Debt, Financing Higher Education, and Insurance. Each module takes around 25 minutes to complete, and students can do this online at their own time.
